Taste: Bold & grassy · Caffeine: Medium-High
Sencha is Japan's everyday green tea — steamed shortly after picking to lock in a vivid green color and a fresh, grassy character. Expect a bright, vegetal cup with notes of cut grass and spinach, a touch of natural sweetness, and a clean finish with a light brininess reminiscent of the sea.
Sencha carries a moderately high caffeine content for a green tea, making it a solid, steady pick-me-up earlier in the day — smoother than coffee, with none of the jittery edge.
Like other green teas, sencha is naturally rich in catechins (a type of antioxidant), and is often enjoyed as part of a simple, balanced daily routine.
How far does it go? As a rough guide, based on about 2.5–3g of leaves per 8oz cup:

- 100g — about 30–40 cups
- 150g — about 45–60 cups
- 200g — about 60–80 cups
